Who we are
MusicTradeIQ is operated by Music Industry Consultancy Limited. For UK data-protection law, Music Industry Consultancy Limited is the controller of the personal information described in this notice.
You can contact us about privacy or exercise your rights by writing to our registered office shown on this page, marked for the attention of MusicTradeIQ Privacy.
Information we collect
You can browse the public website and use the open dashboard without creating a MusicTradeIQ profile. If you choose to use an authenticated account, the service may receive an account identifier, email address and, where available, your name.
Your optional MusicTradeIQ profile may also contain a display name, company, job title, selected home market, email-digest preference, signal-alert preference and the dates on which the profile was created or updated.
The platform and hosting providers used to deliver the service may process technical information needed for security and operation, such as request logs, device or browser information, IP address, authentication events and error records.
How and why we use it
- To authenticate users and provide the dashboard, profile and saved preferences.
- To maintain, secure, troubleshoot and improve the service.
- To respond to enquiries, rights requests and service communications.
- Where a user has actively enabled them, to manage requested digests or signal alerts.
- To establish, exercise or defend legal rights and meet legal obligations.
Our lawful bases
We process account and profile information where it is necessary to provide the service requested by you or to take steps before providing it. We also rely on our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving a responsible B2B market-intelligence service, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
Where consent is the appropriate basis for an optional marketing communication, you may withdraw it at any time. Service or security messages may still be sent where necessary to operate your account.
Cookies and similar technologies
MusicTradeIQ does not currently deploy advertising cookies, behavioural advertising pixels or third-party marketing analytics. The platform may use cookies or similar technologies that are strictly necessary for authentication, security, fraud prevention and delivery of the service.
If we introduce non-essential analytics or marketing technologies, we will update this notice and provide an appropriate choice before they are activated where consent is required.
Who receives information
We share personal information only where needed with service providers that supply authentication, hosting, database storage, security, communications and technical support. They may process information only for the relevant service and subject to applicable contractual and legal safeguards.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect legal rights or in connection with a genuine corporate transaction. We do not sell personal information.
International transfers
Some technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data-protection law requires it, we use an adequacy decision, approved contractual protections or another lawful transfer safeguard.
How long we keep information
We keep profile information while the account is active and only for as long afterwards as it is reasonably needed to provide the service, resolve queries, meet legal obligations or protect legal rights. We periodically review information and delete or anonymise it when it is no longer required.
Following a verified deletion request, we will delete or anonymise information that we are not legally required to retain. Residual copies may remain for a limited period in secure backups before being overwritten.
Your rights
- Ask for access to your personal information.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Ask us to erase information in applicable circumstances.
- Ask us to restrict processing or object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Ask to receive certain information in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
- Complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Automated decisions and children
MusicTradeIQ’s market signals, forecasts and opportunity scores analyse trade data; they are not used to make decisions about individual users that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
The service is designed for business and professional users and is not directed to children.
Security and changes
We use organisational and technical measures intended to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, and users should protect access to their authenticated accounts.
We may update this notice when the service, suppliers or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will identify the current version, and material changes will be brought to users’ attention where appropriate.
